LD-12 Assembly Candidate Freshta Taeb Speaks About Betrayal of US Service Members At Ft. Dix
LD-12 Assembly candidate Freshta Taeb, a dedicated advocate for affordability, veterans, and putting our communities first, spoke out recently against the changes slated to occur at the US Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Burlington County. The installation which was previously used for Operation Allies Welcome by the Biden administration has been proffered as a facility to detain immigrants by the Department of Defense.
Operation Allies Welcome was preceded by Operation Allies Refuge which took place in Afghanistan and saw the deployment of over 4,000 US service personnel. Operation Allies Welcome took place domestically and involved members of the DoD, CBP, TSA, Secret Service, DoS, and dozens of interagency and non-governmental groups.
Taeb, who has been a critic of the Biden administration’s haphazard withdrawal from Afghanistan, took part in the aforementioned Operation Allies Welcome. She was “coined” by a three-star general for her exceptional service during the operation. Taeb spoke of how this sudden change in the base’s function comes as a spiritual betrayal of the many service members who dedicated themselves to protect and serve. Whether it was boots-on-the-ground defending others, or helping to resettle our allies, this comes as a betrayal to those veterans and their values.
"Fort Dix was once a temporary home for allies and war veterans who risked everything to stand beside us. Now, under the current administration, it is being repurposed into a detainment center. This isn’t just policy failure, it’s betrayal." said Freshta Taeb, Assembly candidate for New Jersey’s 12th Legislative District
